Crosswords LA wrapped up a few hours ago at Fowler Museum on the UCLA campus. Over 120 competitors tested their solving mettle with puzzles provided by Patti Varol, Melanie Miller, Byron Wladen, Trip Payne, and Merl Reagle. In the end, Eric Maddy took top honors for the third time on a diabolical playoff puzzle constructed by David Quarfoot. Jordan Chodorow and John Beck finished second and third respectively. Congratulations to all the winners!
In other crossword tournament news, the Indie 500 has announced a date for its debut tournament: May 30, 2015. Registration information will be posted soon on the website.
